Starting in July all new tenants are not permitted to smoke in my building. I informed them (and stated in the lease) that I will do inspections. If they smoke in the apartment I will terminate their lease. I have a few other tenants that smoke. They have rented from me for years. Can I tell them that my building is going smoke free? I was thinking of letting them know when their lease is up for renewal. In the past I lost some good tenants because the smoke bothered them.
