FROM THE PRESIDENT: Laura O’Leary
No landlord wants a renter who struggles to pay the rent each month, trashes your property, or is a disruptive neighbor to those living around him. We are all using applications now for prospective renters. But what exactly should you do with that application once it is filled out, and what factors determine whether you decide to hand over the keys to this new renter? What does the City of Cedar Rapids require that you do? How can you tell if this applicant may be trouble down the road and legally tell them they cannot rent your property?
Our May meeting will feature Realtor Broker Associate and Instructor Judy Stevens, who is one of our local experts on this issue. Join us Thursday, May 12, noon at the Longbranch and learn the latest on how you can avoid renting to a problem.
The buffet meal will be open for our room at 11:45, and our meeting will begin at noon. It is necessary to let us know you are coming. Please respond by Sunday night to [email protected]. We need to give The Longbranch our count by Monday, May 9th, for both food prep and room set-up.
See you all Thursday!
On another note, please be aware that the website password has changed. It was sent out to all our members in an email on April 13.
