The July Membership Meeting will be presented by the City of Cedar Rapids Assessor’s office. This should very a very interesting & informational meeting for anyone who owns property. They will explain the different property classifications, the different approaches in valuing property, the appeal processes as well as answer questions.

Other Updates: A new agenda item for this year for the Landlords of Linn County Board is having “Landlords of Linn County” more involved in community outreach programs specifically those that are targeted towards “housing”. This is a great way for us to learn about the organization as well as being involved in helping with their needs. The Willis Dady Emergency Shelter, was the first organization that LOLC selected and in addition to the $500 donation that LOLC made to the shelter last month we also collected supplies at the membership meetings for the past several months and took those down to the shelter.
Our next outreach is for the The Catherine McAuley Center. The Catherine McAuley Center offers hope and opportunity through basic education for adults and transitional housing for women.
Through education and housing, the Catherine McAuley Center helps individuals transform their lives by gaining greater stability, self-sufficiency, and becoming more engaged in the community. Their housing program is in need at this time. It is a challenging time of year for them as donations are high over the holiday season but are depleted by summer.
Following is a list of items for the housing program they would be very grateful to receive.
New Items:
Twin size sheet sets, Box fans, Toothpaste,
Any size towels, Clothes hangers, Toothbrushes,
Laundry baskets, Brooms/Dust pans, Toilet Paper,
Alarm clocks, Body Wash, Dish washing soap,
Silverware, Deodorant, Liquid hand soap
If you would like to donate any of these items to help out with their needs, please bring to the monthly meetings and LOLC will collect and take over to them.
We appreciate our members of LOLC supporting this program as a group to help our community’s housing needs.
