Our March meeting is coming up on Thursday the13th, NOON at the Clarion. The buffet lunch will be served at 11:45. It is neccesary to RSVP so the Clarion can set up our meeting room to accomodate us all. This will be a big meeting, so please reply to [email protected] as soon as possible and no later than Tuesday, March 11th.
This month we have invited the two Cedar Rapids Nuisance Property Abatement Coordinators to speak to our group. Amanda Grieder and Annette Lorenz will bring us up to speed on what is happening in the City since the ordinance went into law in 2013. They will talk about founded calls, property owner notifications, nuisance properties and appeals by landlords. Please email us with any questions prior to Thursday morning. There will also be notecards available at each table for written questions only during their presentation.
April is Fair Housing Month, and our April program on the evening of the 10th will feature the new Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Civil Right Commission, John-Paul Chaisson-Cardenas. On April 23, the CRCRC will host a Fair Housing Summit. Landlords of Linn County is a Partner/Sponsor for this day long event at the new Doubletree Hotel. Since we are a sponsor, our members can attend for the discounted rate of only $35. This event will include local and national experts on Fair Houing topics, along with a very nice lunch and a chance to experience the new venue of the Doubletree convention area. Look for the link on our website. We will be providing our members with a code to enter for the discounted rate when you register.
