From The President: Laura O’Leary

Don’t miss our January meeting this Thursday the 10th.  The new Chief of Police for Cedar Rapids, Chief Wayne Jerman, along with Captain Steve O’Konek, CRPD Criminal Investigative Division, will present our program.

As most of you should be aware, Cedar Rapids is in the process of adopting Nuisance Code Chapter 22A.  This proposed ordinance will most likely be approved by Council this month.  It addresses the behavior of tenants in rental properties, and penalties the owners will face if their property is declared a nuisance due to the tenant’s behavior.  Chief Jerman and Captain O’Konek will be detailing how the CRPD will be partnering with landlords when this ordinance goes into effect.

Because we expect a big turnout for this program, we will plan to serve the meal a little early, at 6:40.  Come any time after 6:00 for the social time.  It is important that we know how many to set the room for, so it is necessary that you let us know that you plan to attend.  Email us today at [email protected]

In February, we will meet at NOON, rather than in the evening, since the second Thursday falls on Valentine’s Day this year.  The location will remain at the Clarion, so bring your sweetie to lunch if you want.  We will be announcing the program for February shortly.  If attendance is good we will consider having more noon meetings, so please give us your feedback.

See you all Thursday!!
