The HSB 153 Right to Assistance has been passed on and assigned as HF 493 “Right to Assistance”. So if you haven’t had the opportunity to follow up with your representatives yet please change the name to the the new assignment.
Another bill gaining momentum is HF 161 – House Bill & SF 458 -Senate Bill – Occupancy bill This bill relates to the authority of cities to regulate and restrict the occupancy of residential rental property. The bill provides that a city shall not adopt or enforce any regulation or restriction related to the occupancy of residential rental property based upon the familial or nonfamilial relationships of occupants. Not a huge hot topic in the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Area, but for those that also have properties in the Iowa City, Ames and Cedar Falls area and rent to college students it should be on your radar.
